Mistakes

Published May 1, 2017

We all make mistakes.  Some silly and some, not so much. Let’s just say I know this from personal experience. If you were the cause of a car accident you know. Sometimes we are not proud of the mistakes we have made during our lifetime but they are there non-the-less. Many things we have done we even pray no one ever finds out about them. Not good in our sight, the view of others and even in God’s sight they are not good.  I want you to know that mistakes, even the bad ones, can be good things. Most of […]

Quiet

Published April 24, 2017

Last week I was driving and noticed maybe for the first time in years, that I was the only one on the QEW. Yes, it was a holiday weekend and I was up way too early, champing at the bit to get to church. I enjoyed the solitude. Turned the radio down low and just spent time with God. Many people in our world today don’t do this. Most people always have the radio on or the tv just for background noise or have it for the company. Which gives me the impression, no one wants to be alone. Just […]

Easter Parade

Published April 11, 2017

Only a few more days until Easter.  I know it’s very near on account of what met me at church this morning. Just as I arrived at work I notice two rabbits on the front grass of the church. You look for Robins & I look for bunnies. Hadn’t seen them for a year or so. What a wonderful surprise as I chased a cat away. We are so fortunate here in this part of the world where we can connect many things in life that emphasis Easter. The bulbs are up, Robins skipping across the grass that is now […]

Arrivals Level

Published April 6, 2017

Do you get excited about people coming to visit, or going to visit someone?  I sure do. Last year we went to England to visit cousins. Almost from the day we made the decision to go, we were so excited. Planning is also a big part of it. Picking a date that suits both sides. Finding a airlines that doesn’t charge too much. Other things like, how to get to the airport, what is waiting on the other side, and that means being ready to drive on the wrong side of the road? What do we take, what will we […]

Tea for Two

Published March 27, 2017

While making tea for the folks at church I noticed something unusual.  We had a lot of boxes of tea that seemed to have been around the church for a long time.  And just like at home, I decided to check for an expiry date. One particularly old looking box, failed to have an expiry date so in my wisdom I tossed it. It must have come to the church before everything had to have an expiry date.  This had me wondering how long you could keep tea around.  Turns out, after doing a computer search, tea is good […]

Next!

Published March 1, 2017

And so, we begin the season of Lent. No weather related change in seasons. But what is Lent? For that matter, what is Shrove Tuesday which is commonly called Pancake Tuesday? Just so you know, it is about two things. First it’s about using up all the butter, eggs and fat so you will not be too tempted to go off your Lenten Fast. Yes, people do that. To put it in perspective it has been associated with giving up your most desired food for the next forty days. How’s that working for you? I on the other hand look […]

The Sun Comes Up Tomorrow

Published February 22, 2017

I keep telling people, “Have a great day”. Maybe it’s the optimist in me. We would all love to have a life filled with good to great days. But, sometimes, no matter how positive we are, we don’t have much control on life and those times are not good days. In fact some people when their day has been decidedly terrible, want to sit down and read that wonderful kids book, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”. We all have them. Doesn’t matter where you are in life, life sometimes comes and kicks you in the […]

I Found What I Never Lost

Published February 13, 2017

Have you ever been sitting there saying to yourself, “Somethings missing?” You really can’t pinpoint it but you know there is something missing. This is not like missing your glasses or missing an appointment. But, from somewhere in the back of your head you can’t get rid of the thought you are missing something. The older I get the more things in my life start disappearing. The first thing was my memory. But everyone goes from one room to the next and immediately forgets why they came in there, don’t you?  That is not what I’m talking about either. It’s […]

One Liner.

Published February 6, 2017

If you follow me on face book you would know I post all kinds of “One Liners”.  Some are funny but hold an amazing message. Many people let me know they like it by clicking on ‘like’. Had someone reply to a serious one this week, with the line many of you know, “Something to think about”. Made me smile. You know why.   There are also many that talk to that people you know and I know (read that, all of us) that just need a lift. Here is an example: ‘People don’t need a hand out, they need […]

Do It!

Published February 6, 2017

Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of people out there that can’t get their minds off of the things they are told they cannot do?  It’s true, tell a child they are not to go in the living room and it won’t be very long until they have the toe of their shoe inside the door. Tell a young driver that you always have to obey the speed limit. If they did we wouldn’t have police lying in wait for them to go speeding by.  You can even tell a very motivated individual they can’t do some […]
